Rouses Markets is the official supermarket of the New Orleans Saints. Donny Rouse is the third generation to run the business started by his grandfather, Anthony J. Since opening its first store in 1960, it has grown to operate 64 stores across three states and has more than 7,000 employees. Rouses Markets is ranked one of the top private companies and largest employers on the Gulf Coast. The company opened this Mandeville location in 2007, when it purchased the A&P’s Southern Division (Sav-A-Centers) in 2007. The first store to open was in Covington at 1200 Business Hwy 190. The first Mandeville store opened in 2006. Rouses Markets has been operating on the Northshore since 2003. The store also has a Rouses Barrel House store. There is a new temperature-controlled dry-aged beef locker, where it ages USDA Choice Angus Beef for at least 25 days, a new olive bar, an expanded produce department and a new deli case with chef-prepared food. It features a Mongolian Grill with made to order stir-fries. The Mandeville store has been remodeled top to bottom. Madden delivered a proclamation honoring the store and declared May 4 “Rouses Markets Day” in Mandeville. The store also presented a $5,000 check to the Northshore Food Bank. Mayor Clay Madden was in attendance along with Rouses Markets executives, the store team and customers. Rouses Markets celebrated a store grand reopening May 4 at 4350 Hwy.
